2021 Domaine Collotte Marsannay En Combereau

There is nothing that motivates us more than hearing feedback from customers; both good and bad are valuable. But because Burgundy is our favorite (a close call with Champagne) we’re personally on the hunt for bottles costing less than $100 and take great pride when you appreciate our discoveries too. This is one you’re going to LOVE!!

An importer introduced me to Domaine Colette with the 2020 vintage. I’d been needling the rep to bring off-the-beaten-path Burgundies. No review, no problem. In fact, many of you know, I’m excited to try wines that have no reviews. It’s like diving in unmapped waters. Often the quality is good and the price isn’t artificially inflated chasing the scores.

In the case of Domaine Colette, by the time I got to the 2020’s most of the stock had already been sold and I was allocated crumbs, so I became a squeaky wheel, vying for the 2021s.

Last week, the importer paid a special visit with a bag full of 2021’s, a vintage I deeply appreciate. It is a style of wine we typically saw 25 years ago. The sleek, cool quality to the fruit represents more “classic flavors” vs the fruit forward, sunny type of wines we’re all adjusting to today.

I could not put down the 2021 Marsannay En Combereau. It has good fruit, is well balanced with mid palate and texture that screams class and sophistication.  It's the kind of wine which a Burgundy drinker doesn’t tire of and at a fantastic price!

If you like drinking Burgundy, this is one you are going to want to have on hand.  Drink it now or over the next several years and rest assured, you’ll be happy every time you pop it. When it's gone there is no more, so pick up a few extra than you would normally. You can thank me later!
