2022 Dominique Lafon Meursault Narvaux

Way back in the late 90’s, I was fortunate enough to meet him and taste at Comtes Lafon. Needless to say, I’ve been fangirling ever since. At the time, he was already a rock star with highly sought after wines, although not trading for what they do today!

As is the case with all the famous domaines, there is hardly enough wine to satisfy even a portion of the demand. A number of prominent producers have attempted to satisfy the demand by establishing a negociant business - a way to produce more wine by buying grapes from vineyards they do not own.  

Dominique set up his negociant business in 2008. In some ways it has allowed him to take risks and express himself and his talents more freely, free from the pressure of family and shareholders at Comtes Lafon, who come with their own expectations.  

If you have tasted the wines, you know they are exceptional. It is that same attention to detail and passion that has made him one of the most respected producers. I confess, I’ve yet to taste 2022, but based on the quality of this vintage, and Dominique (one of the most talented winemakers on the planet), this is going to be an absolute home run! If this wine had THE domaine label on it, it would be selling for 2x ++ if not more.
