2020 Produttori Del Barbaresco
This is truly one of the greatest wine values not only in Italy, but the entire wine world. Produttori has long been a producer in Piedmont, living in the shadows of some of the more recognized names: Giacosa, Conterno or even Gaja.
It seems with each passing year the wines are becoming more respected by collectors throughout the world and if the 2020 vintage does not open your eyes to the magic of this estate, I challenge you to rethink your position on nebbiolo.
Today, I’m offering the estate's entry level Barbaresco. Each year Produttori’s Barbaresco is derived from 9 of the finest crus in the Langhe, vineyards such as Rabaja, Asili, Ovello to name a few. It's the ability to draw fruit from these amazing vineyards that really puts this wine in a class by itself.
Please trust me, not all Barbaresco is created equal!
Produttori’s approach is very traditional. Fermentation lasts between 18 and 21 days. Aging in used Slovinian oak barrels, many of which are decades old, where the wine spends up to another 3 years. Year over year, the results speak for themself, but especially in a vintage like 2020; ageworthy nebbiolo that is transparent, focused and with multiple layers of flavor, revealing themselves with each sip.
Ideally, this wine needs a few more years in the cellar but anyone that loves nebbiolo is going to want to have plenty of this one around. It will reward you for years to come.
Trust me – Home Run!
