2022 Clos des Papes Chateauneuf du Pape

Many of you know this wine as one of Southern Rhone’s reference point wines. Indeed, the Avril family’s dedication to the area is seen (and tasted) in its meticulous farming across 32 hectares made up of 24 small, top-quality parcels. The traditional Southern Rhone varietals make up the blend Grenache 55%, Mourvèdre 35%, and Syrah 10%. These varieties  flourish here in clay-limestone soils layered with heat-retentive and reflective “galet” stones that help with  ripening. The year 2022 marks another successful vintage for the estate again flirting with perfection
